Quad Trip
Vintage overdrive
Quad Trip is a guitar overdrive based on the popular Japanese made Boss OD-1 from the late seventies (1977 to 1978). In the early 1980's OD-1 along with the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-808 were the most widely used overdrives.
Our Lee Hooker Quad Trip has the same chip – a quadruple 14-pin RC3403ADB op-amp, which was produced in very limited quantities and has similar connections to the original Japanese chip from 1978. The only difference is using 8-pin op-amp and true bypass circuit which will guarantee that the guitar sound color and other pedals functions will not change when the effect is off. This equipment is standard on all pedals these days. Controls are simple: two knobs – Level and Over Drive(volume and distortion). The controls work well, the sound is usable throughout the whole range. Quad Trip has a larger level range than the original, so it can be used as a nice booster.
Recently, the popularity of the OD-1 is coming back and many guitarists are looking for them. Complaints with the original Boss OD-1 were that the sound seemed to be set deep in the speaker and did not push out so much. But our Quad Trip is pushing out just fine, so there's no problem. Just like Tube Screamer, the Quad Trip boosts the middle frequencies, but in a slightly different spectrum. Excellent pedal when combined with Marshall Plexi or Vox AC 30.
